1.The
DVD stops/freezes/goes back to the start or
pixel-ates between Chapters 16-25?
This is a very common problem
with Dvd’s and has specific implications for
gold Layered Disc ‘s which have recently
become more popular and hold considerable
information on one side as opposed to the old
2 sided disk or multi disk sets that used to
come out. What happens is each layer holds a
different part of the movie and some old , or
cheaper machines cannot handle the change over
between layers. There is no fix for this other
than to quickly fast forward at that point in
time and hope that the machine moves quickly
to the new layer. (Top)
2.A
scratch/line 5mm from the outside edge around
a PS2 Game or DVD ?
This is common with the Play
station 2 Console and relates specifically to
the game when they are placed standing up at
speed the disk wobbles and scrapes the side of
the machine inside. In time this will cause
the game to stop working. This can be repaired
by using the MACH 1 Machine from The Disk
Doctor . This problem can be help by using
round labels instead of square ones.(Top)
3.Fingermarks
can cause a DVD not to load/start or work?
Fingermarks are a common
problem even if you put finger marks on a
brand new disk if they are in the right place
they can cause a Dvd or game not to play you
can simply wipe the disk with a lint free
cloth and remove the finger marks. We
recommend regular maintenance to keep your
disk in pristine condition and you can order
cloths and cleaning solution from our order
page.(Top)
4.Why
do some DVD Movies work on some players and
not others?
Some Dvd’s play on some
machines and not others because of a couple of
factors one being the age of the player and
the age of the disk newer disk have heaps more
information and effects (considerably more
than what was around even 1 year ago). Another
reason is scratches and fingerprints which
deflect the laser and the deeper the scratch
and stronger the print then the more
deflection. The more powerful the laser the
better chance of getting through the scratch
or mark . As is the laws of production the
cheaper the machine the cheaper the laser all
we can suggest is to stick to the better known
brands of machines. And keep your disk
protected and cleaned.(Top)
5. What
is the difference between light scuff marks
and scratches?
The difference between
scratches and light scuff marks is that
scratches you can generally feel with your
finger nails and need to be taken out with a
special machine while scuff marks can be taken
out with a special polishing spray (Disk
wipes) available at www.diskrepair.biz

6. What
if my DVD or Game has a crack around the centre
hole?
This is caused by the old push
button covers and is quite fatal to all disk
when it gets bad , you can get disk protectors
that go over the graphics side of the disk they
have care instructions on them that can be wiped
off. (Top)
7.Why
do some of my DVD's have shadow or dark marks
visible when they are new ?? (Very Important)
This problem is a major industry
problem that is caused in the production stage
of DVD’s and cd’s it is caused by air
getting trapped between the layers and over time
(this can vary from 1 week to 1 year) the air
expands and renders the disk un- playable this
is called laser rot. Its only remedy is to take
the disk back to the manufacturer for a
replacement. (Top)
8.How
do I keep my DVD and Games Rental Library clean
& keep my customers happy without spending
huge amounts of money?
Maintenance use disk wipes from www.diskrepair.biz
and find or become a good disk repairer. With
the growth of Dvd’s and electronic disk it
pays to look after what you have . (Top)
9.I have
seen a small 3.5 inch CD ROM (half the size of a
normal DVD) - What is it?
Very good question it is the
next generation of game entertainment although
it’s been around for awhile (have a look at
your computer cd’rom drive see the indent)
technology allows for more info to be used on
it. The Game cube uses these disk. (Top)
10.Where
is the Video industry going and how will we be
affected?
Very good question while I’m no mind reader

would be impossible to speculate suffice to say
stay tuned. (Top)
